Whilst we don’t profess to be experts on the dance floor we are definitely experts when it comes to hosting dance events… and we’re delighted to be able to share our knowledge about what it takes t

o plan a successful event. 

We provide venues for dozens of dance events throughout the year and have built up a good understanding of what’s needed to make a competition or festival go well – whether it’s a small group of competitive dancers or hundreds of enthusiasts enjoying a weekend of music and dancing.

Over the next few months we’ll be giving tips on how to make a dance event really go with a swing and like any dance the key to success is preparation and planning so that everything comes together for the performance.

For an organiser that means your work can begin many months, often a year or more, before the event.  And perhaps the most important consideration, right from the start, is location.

It needs to be a venue that people can get to without too much travelling and you’ll need to consider whether people will arrive independently, by coach or by public transport.  Check the parking facilities for coaches and the proximity of train and bus stations – some Haven parks have bus stops within the park itself and most have easy parking for coaches.

It’s also great to have as much as possible on one site so that everything is accessible once your guests have arrived.  We’ve found that events are more likely to be successful if there are other attractions available besides dancing as this will help persuade the whole family to come along and make a weekend of it.
