The piece starts with the master painter on his deathbed so the story is recalled through a series of flashbacks and imagery.” Performed by seven dancers, including the mercurial Lee Clayden as Caravaggio, Bhuller has brought in a highly creative team of collaborators including lighting designer John B. Read (Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet companies), award winning costume designer Craig Givens, renowned composers Barry Guy and Maya Homburger and graphics masters KMA all of whom are involved in re-creating the all-important chiaroscuro design – strong contrasts between light and dark – that characterised much of Caravaggio’s work. ‘Caravaggio: Exile and Death’ will be performed by Lee Clayden, Lisa Welham, Renaud Wiser, Nicholas Keegan, WeiChun Lou, Cree Barnett Williams, Harriet Bone.
